Fillings

Dental fillings are one of the most common treatments for restoring teeth affected by cavities. They are also a popular option for improving the esthetic appearance of teeth by addressing minor imperfections or discoloration.

Types of Dental Filling
Dentists commonly use composite resin fillings, which are made from durable plastic resins. These fillings are an excellent option for restoring decayed teeth while blending seamlessly with your natural tooth color. Composite fillings are strong, long-lasting, and designed to maintain the natural look and function of your teeth.

How Are They Placed on The Tooth?

Your dentist may recommend a filling if your tooth has minor damage, such as decay or discoloration. The process begins with your dentist administering local anesthesia to numb the area. The decayed portion of the tooth is then carefully removed using a dental drill or air-abrasion technique. Once the tooth is cleaned and prepared, the composite resin material is applied in layers, with each layer hardened using a special light. This process ensures a secure and durable restoration.

Fillings help preserve your teeth by restoring their strength and appearance. However, they cannot fully protect teeth from future damage or decay, which is why your dentist may recommend additional treatments, such as dental crowns, for more extensive protection.
